Jewish Apple Cake

Ingredients: 2 lbs. apples, peeled, cored & sliced 1 cup plus 4 tbs. sugar 1 tsp cinnamon grated zest & juice of one lemon 4 eggs 1 cup oil (canola or safflower) 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp vanilla extract Preparation: 1. Pre-heat oven to 350 F.  2. Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan.  3. In a large bowl, toss apple slices, 4 tbs. sugar, cinnamon, lemon zest & juice together and set aside.  4. In another large bowl, use a mixer or egg beater to beat eggs with 1 cup sugar until thick and lemon colored, and mixture forms a ribbon when beaters are lifted from the bowl, 3 to 5 minutes.  5. Beat in oil until well blended.  6. Stir in flour, baking powder, and vanilla with a spatula until well mixed and smooth.  7. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan.  8. Spoon half the apple slices over batter.  9. Pour remaining batter over the apple slices, then top with the remaining apple slices.  10. Ann's Apple Cake Recipe

Ingredients:   2 eggs 1¹/⁴ cup of oil  1 tsp nutmeg 1-1¹/² tsp of baking soda 1¹/² - 2 cups sugar 3 cups apples  3 cups of all purpose Flour  1-2 tsp cinnamon  2 tsp vanilla 1 tsp salt Preparation: 1. Preheat oven to 350° F. 2. Grease and flour pan. 3. Beat together oil & sugar. Add eggs & vanilla. Blend well.  4. Add flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, & cinnamon. Blend well. 5. Fold in apples. Batter is thick.  6. Spread batter evenly into cake pan.  7. Bake for 60-65 minutes or until toothpick put in center comes out clean. Serve warm or cold You can freeze this cake. Cool completely. Ingredients: 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/2 tsp cinnamon dash of salt Juice of one lemon 6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples 2 tbsp butter Pastry for 9'' two-crust pie Preparation: 1. Heat oven to 425° F. 2. Prepare pastry. 3. Stir together sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and lemon juice; mix with apples. 4. Turn into pastry-lined pie pan; dot with butter. 5. New York apple-pie

Ingredients: Dough: 250 g flour 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 150 g cold butter 6 tbsp cold water Filling: 4 large green apples 1 1/2 tbsp wheat flour 100 g sugar pinch of salt 1 tbsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg 3 tbsp lemon juice 1 packet vanilla sugar grated lemon peel butter flakes Preparation: 1. Mix together flour with salt, sugar and cinnamon. 2. Cut cold butter into small pieces and add to the flour mixture with a knife till it resembles a crumble texture. 3. Add cold water and knead to a dough. 4. Place in the fridge for one hour. 5. Peel and core green apples and cut into thin slices and then mix with wheat flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, ground nutmeg, lemon juice and vanilla sugar into a bowl, then add some grated lemon peel and mix well. 6. Roll out 2/3 of the dough and lay onto a greased pie-dish (23 cm) and gently push up the sides to form the edge. 7. Add apple mixture. 8. Ingredients: 16 oz french loaf 2 cups milk 1 tbsp vanilla 2 tsp cinnamon 8 eggs 3/4 cup sugar 4 Granny Smith 3 tbsp butter Preparation: 1. Spray 9x13 pan with cooking spray, 2. Cut bread into 1" cubes, pack tightly into pan. 3. Beat eggs, milk, vanilla and 1/2 cup sugar - pour half over bread. 4. Peel, slice apples and put over bread. 5. Add the rest of the egg mix. 6. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over top, dot with butter. 7. Cover and refrigerate over night. 8. Bake 25 minutes at 350° F, remove foil and bake 20 more minutes. Apple Pies Baked in Apples

Ingredients: 4 medium sized apples 1 premade 9 inch pie crust 1.5 tsp cornstarch 1 tbsp water 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 cup granulated white sugar 1 egg whisked (for egg wash) Preparation: 1. Slice off tops of apples. Using small sharp knife hollow out the centre of the apples, leaving about 1/4 - 1/2 inch on the sides. Save the flesh for filling. 2. Dice the removed apple flesh into small cubes. You should have about 1 cup worth when you are done. Make sure not to include seeds, skin, or any of the core. 3. Preheat oven 350 degrees F. 4. Dissolve cornstarch in water. 5. In small pot, combine 1 cup of diced apples, cornstarch mixture, cinnamon and white sugar.  6. Cook for about 5 minutes until apples are soft and syrup is brown and thick. 7. Add apple pie filling to each of the hollowed out apples. 8. Old Fashioned Apple Dumplings

Ingredients: 1 recipe pastry for double-crust pie 6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored 1/2 cup butter 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg 3 cups water 2 cups white sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract Preparation: 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Butter a 9x13 inch pan. 2. On a lightly floured surface, roll pastry into a large rectangle, about 24 by 16 inches. Cut into 6 square pieces. Place an apple on each pastry square with the cored opening facing upward. Cut butter into 8 pieces. Place 1 piece of butter in the opening of each apple; reserve remaining butter for sauce. Applesauce Cake

Ingredients: 1/2 cup shortening 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs, well beaten 1 1/2 cups applesauce, unsweetened 2 1/2 cups cake flour 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 2 tbsp water 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp cloves 1 cup raisins Preparation 1. Cream shortening, add sugar gradually and continue to beat until fluffy. add the eggs and combine thoroughly. 2. Mix flour with salt and spices. 3. Add 1/3 of the applesauce to the creamed mixture and blend. 4. Add dry ingredients alternately with remaining applesauce, beating thoroughly after each addition.  5. Dissolve baking soda in water and add to mixture. 6. Add raisins. 7. Pour into a large loaf pan 5x9x4 inches. 8. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 1 hour. Dump Cake

Ingredients: 1 Dry Cake Mix (or equivalent of dry ingredients only for a cake) 1 Can (425 grams) of Apples (or equivalent of home-cooked apples) 1 Stick (115 grams) of Butter Preparation: 1. Mix fruit in bottom of greased cake pan. 2. Spread dry cake mix on top (do not add any egg or other liquid ingredient that the cake mix calls for). 3. Put thin slices of butter all over the top. 4.
