Traditional Apple Cake

Ingredients:
(for a cake 24 cm in diameters)
500 g apples
3 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup flower
1 tsp vanilla sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp poppy seeds
powdered sugar

Preparation:
1. Remove seeds and cut apples into thin slices, but do not peel them.
2. Grease the walls of a baking tray with butter and lay baking paper into the bottom.
3. Spread the sliced apples on the baking tray and sprinkle them with cinnamon.
4. Prepare the dough for the cake. Whisk the eggs well together with regular and vanilla sugar until the mixture becomes white, then pour in the flour and mix until a consistent dough is formed.
5. Pour the dough over the apples in the baking tray and sprinkle poppy seeds on top.
6. Bake in the oven at 180 °C for about 40 minutes until the cake rises and bakes.
7. To check whether the cake is properly baked, pierce it with a wooden stick. if the stick comes out dry, the cake is baked.
8. Leave the baked cake to cool off in its tray for while. Once it cools off, decorate it with powdered sugar and cut into pieces.
